Jalen Milroe Declares for the 2025 NFL Draft – Is This The Right Decision?

Earlier this season, I broke down Jalen Milroe’s rise as a 2025 NFL Draft prospect following his incredible performance against LSU. 🏈 In case you missed it, check out my detailed video where I analyzed his game, discussed advanced stats, and compared him to a few NFL QBs.

Since then, Milroe has officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, and while his raw talent is undeniable, I have some concerns about this decision:

Jalen Milroe Declares for the 2025 NFL Draft – Is This The Right Decision?

While I believed another year at Alabama—or even a transfer to a system better suited to his skill set—could have bolstered his draft stock, Milroe still has the tools to succeed in the NFL. The right coach and system can maximize his strengths (think Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen) while bridging his developmental gaps.

Strengths:
  • Elite athleticism, deep accuracy, and game-changing potential—traits that will make him a favorite throughout the NFL Combine process.

Weaknesses:
  • Decision-making, ball security, and progression through reads remain areas for growth. These weaknesses were evident in Alabama's matchup against Michigan, where his happy feet and struggles under pressure highlighted areas that still need refinement.

📊 Key Takeaway: Jalen Milroe’s athleticism and deep accuracy make him a high-upside prospect, but he’ll need the right situation to unlock his potential.

NFL Draft Projection & Current Grade

  • Projection: 2nd-3rd Round

  • Play Style/Scheme Fit: Milroe’s dynamic athleticism and arm strength make him an ideal fit for modern offensive schemes, particularly spread-based West Coast systems incorporating zone read/RPO elements.

  • Final Grade: Mid-Level Starter Potential

  • Ceiling Grade: High-End Starter Potential

📊 Grade Analysis: Milroe projects as a mid-level starter with the potential to exceed expectations within 2-3 years, given focused development. His elite athleticism and arm strength could allow him to grow into a high-impact NFL quarterback, especially in a system tailored to his strengths.
